Jon Musgrave is a New York City based bodyworker. He studied therapeutic massage at the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, NY, and has been practicing massage in NYC since 2012.
He is the manager and member of Samamkaya Yoga Back Care & Scoliosis Collective. He has studied therapeutic yoga since 2014 with Deborah Wolk, Debby Green, and Wendy Baranello at Samamkaya, and has taken workshops with Elise Browning Miller, Karin Stephan, Arun, Kevin Gardiner, Rachel Lynch-John, and Cator Shachoy. He has also assisted Deborah Wolk's Yoga & Scoliosis class at Samamkaya since the beginning of 2017.
In addition to massage, Jon is the Founder, Artistic Director, and Conductor of the Wind Ensemble Society of New York City. His interest in bodywork began during his Bachelor's degree in Tuba Performance at the University of Colorado at Boulder, CU where he studied the Alexander Technique with James Brody to help deal with the choric pain associated with two childhood falls, and which became worse during the demanding schedule of a college music major.
He has continued to study the Alexander Technique since 2004, primarily with Jerry Schweibert at the Conductor's Retreat at Medomak and with Witold Fitz-Simon in NYC. After completing his Master's degree in Wind Conducting at Ithaca College, Jon decided to take a break from music and attend massage school to be able to further study the body and to help people live with less pain. He now lives in NYC and lives a duel life of massage and music.
