Jon Musgrave (he/him) is a LGBTQ-friendly bodyworker and yoga teacher based in Union Square, Manhattan. He studied therapeutic massage at the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca, NY, and has been practicing massage in NYC since 2012. Ever eager to learn more about the body and how to work better with clients, Jon has studied extensively in topics including anatomy, psychology, various bodywork and energy work modalities, and specific pain and injury issues.

Jon is a former conductor and tuba player, and his interest in bodywork began during his Bachelor's degree in Tuba Performance at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he studied the Alexander Technique with James Brody to help deal with the chronic pain associated with two childhood falls, and which became worse during the demanding schedule of a college music major.

He has continued to study the Alexander Technique since 2004, primarily with Witold Fitz-Simon in NYC. After completing his Master's degree in Wind Conducting at Ithaca College, Jon attended massage school to be able to further study the body and to help people live with less pain. He has continued to study extensively, and has advanced training in working with trans clients and other members of the Q community, and clients with chronic pain and trauma issues.

In addition to bodywork, Jon is a yoga teacher, manager, and founding member of Samamkaya Yoga Back Care & Scoliosis Collective, the only cooperatively owned yoga center dedicated exclusively to therapeutic yoga. He has studied Iyengar yoga since 2011, and has focused primarily on yoga for back care and scoliosis. He was recently certified as a Teacher Trainer in Elise Browning Miller's Yoga for Scoliosis program, and he apprenticed extensively with Deborah Wolk for 5 years. His other primary teachers are Jaki Nett and Genny Kapuler, and he has also studied extensively with Julie Brandwein, Debby Green, and Wendy Baranello. He has also studied in workshops on various topics in yoga, therapeutics, and anatomy with Karin Stephan, Sri H. S. Arun, Susan-Elena Esquivel, Bobby Clennell, Rita Manos-Lewis, and Cator Shachoy. Jon has been on the Samamkaya faculty since 2019.
