Pain free process

Being is pain is hard. It’s disruptive to your life and can make you feel like you will be stuck in this pain forever. But I want to you know that it IS possible to move out of your pain; to be pain-free. And not only that, but the work itself can be pain-free. Bodywork can be deep, meaningful, and transformative without being painful; not only that, it can feel great! There are six components to the Pain-Free Process that will help move you out of pain:

Evaluate Your Personal Pain History

Your pain is real, unique to you, and arises from your particular history and circumstances. You may also feel trapped by your pain; it may be keeping you from living, working, and playing as you would like to. We’ll begin by taking an in-depth look at your personal health history, looking for clues as to what is helping sustain your pain in the present.

Find Relief in Your Problem Spots

Let’s face it: you are seeking out bodywork to find freedom from the pain that is holding you back. So our first priority in session will be to address your most uncomfortable areas and calm them down so that they feel more at ease.

Restructure Your Whole-Body Patterning

Once we’ve tackled your most troublesome areas (or at least developed a bit of freedom and made some improvements), we’ll pan out to look at the whole body. Because the body works as a unified whole, your pain pattern is being supported by imbalances happening across your entire body. To create truly transformational changes, we’ll work to restructure the patterning of your whole body to create more balance and harmony.

Deconstruct the Fears, Beliefs, & Anxieties Surrounding Your Pain

Being in pain is difficult on more than just a physical level: it can keeps you from fully living the life you want and make you feel like you will be stuck in pain forever. It can make you wonder if it is even possible to get better, to heal. The trouble is that these thoughts are helping to keep you in pain. To find your way out of pain, we’ll dialogue with these beliefs to discover exactly how they are trapping you in your pain—and what they can teach us about the path out.

Refine Your Personal Body Map

Whether you’ve thought much about it or not, you have a map in your mind as to how your body is constructed, and when you move, you move according to this map. The trouble is that most of us have a map that is vague and inaccurate, and this causes us to move in ways that perpetuate our pain-producing habits. Using simple, directed visualizations and targeted anatomical lessons during our sessions, you’ll refine your body map and begin to move with more freedom and ease.

Cultivate the Possibility of a Pain-Free Future

Being in pain can cause us to put our life on hold, to make a future without pain feel out of reach. While I can’t promise that you will be forever free of pain for the rest of your life, I have worked with many people to find more harmony and calm in their bodies and minds, and will do all that I can to help you cultivate a future where you do not feel trapped by your pain.

Jon has exceptional hands, a great knowledge of the human body, and an amazing ability to heal. I’m in my 70s, and had layers of tightness in my upper back, shoulders and neck. I am now standing straighter, have more looseness and flexibility, and I’m feeling much better and younger.

I’ve had Scoliosis my entire life, have gone to countless physical & massage therapists, and Jon is truly the first person that made a difference by alleviating my pain. He came highly recommended & after my first session, the pain I had always experienced in my lower back was gone. Jon has an incredible ability to understand the scope of someone’s curve in their back & be able to immediately target trouble areas. I was blown away by his ability to narrow in on my trouble spots & create relief!
